Two new JCB 3CX excavators are delivered to Nicolson Plant Ltd from dealers Scot JCB in Aberdeen. These two 3CX's will replace the existing ones that are based in the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal.

Our Sullom Mine is a hard rock quarry mainly comprising of Green Schists and Graphitic Schists. The quarry began as a mine in 1954 when a Canadian Group mined a Magnetite ore-body which exists in the quarry. The Magnetite was extracted, crushed down to dust then exported.

At present we crush and screen rock to provide a large range of various sized aggregates and mixes. We supply the public, builders, Civil Engineering contractors and our own projects with materials from the quarry.

We also produce a range of red granite aggregates which is extremely popular for decorative purposes in gardens and drives, etc. The Red Granite is sourced from a small quarry at Haggrister located two miles from the Sullom Mine. There is no quarry facilities permitted at Haggrister so we blast and haul the rock to the Sullom Mine for crushing and screening.
